With all these new serums, cleansers and creams constantly being pushed at us, sometimes going natural is the best thing you can do for your skin! Spices and herbs can turn a dish into something amazing and some of them have another purpose, as natural skincare products:

1) Sesame seeds

Not just for making food pictures look pretty on Instagram or tasting great on bagels! When made into a paste, sesame seeds can lighten acne marks! Sesame seed oil is also useful as it contains Vitamin E which is a natural sunscreen. 

2) Ginger

When rubbed on the skin, Ginger can help to even out skin tone and reduce blemishes. It also improves skin elasticity. Whip up a mask of equal parts grated or powdered ginger, honey, and fresh lemon juice use every two weeks. 

3) Fennel

Fennel is perfect for sensitive skin as it reduces redness and irritation. It also has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that are effective in keeping acne away.

4) Paprika

Vitamin A and C, reduces free radicals that cause damage to cells, proteins and DNA. It can also help to prevent and treat some age and sun spots.

5) Cinnamon

Step away from the cinnamon pretzels and start using cinnamon as part of your skincare! It has anti-microbial properties which can stop acne causing bacteria. 

If you’re not exactly down for rubbing herbs and spices all over your face, you can always try just making sure they feature more in your diet!
